Had our follow up with our local team yesterday and everything looks great with her! They are very happy with how she’s looking! She will remain on a fat free diet until March 21 and then we can resume eating normally. All in all it’s great to be back home. Kora was discharged yesterday evening and we spent today getting blood work, packing and a trip to the west Edmonton mall! Kora and Ella got to paint rocks before we were discharged and placed them in the healing garden. Kora is still not her usually spunky self but we are seeing more of her come back each day. Garion stayed the night with her and it was a rough night but she is improving a lot today. She is eating a bit more(I think she just doesn’t like the bland food here…. Kora is doing well but needs to get a bit more movement in. Otherwise, she had her pacing wires removed, her ART line (this one goes in her arm to measure her internal blood pressure) was removed too. She’s off of morphine and just on Tylenol and Advil for pain. This morning we had a minor set back with her oxygen dropping to 50% and heart rate hitting around 160. They weaned her off of high flow oxygen and nitric last night and ended up needing to put her back on nitric this morning when her levels dropped so low. Her heart rate has stabilized around 140 when awake and 130 when asleep so still a bit high but it is normal for irregular heart rate/rhythms with the Fontan circulation. Surgery took longer than usual yesterday due to her specific anatomy. Because her heart is on the right, the could not do the usual Fontan and had to try doing it a different way. That way did not work so he had to do the less ideal version for it but it still works. The first 12 hours were critical but she has been doing very well. We will update once we know when it will be!*** Pre-op went well today. Surgery is scheduled for 7:20 tomorrow morning. She is getting the fontan and the surgery is expected to take 5-6 hours plus the time it takes her to fall asleep. Kora is pretty tired after all the testing today but got to enjoy some spaghetti for supper!
