Two steps forward, one step back. This has seemed to describe the past few days. Kora had a great day yesterday, we even got to hold her finally! She weaned off sedation and a few other meds. They started a secondary blood pressure medication that is oral so we can give it at home. All looked well and we headed home for the night. This morning, we came in to multiple nurses in the room and her vomiting. We are not sure what caused it but she had spiked blood pressure systolic up to over 125. They treated her nausea, emptied her stomach, stopped feeds, put her back on IV blood pressure meds and gave her Zofran for nausea and a medication for withdrawl and she met some markers of that after coming off all her pain meds and sedation. It seemed to stabilize her enough that they stopped the IV blood pressure meds and resumed our two oral ones. Since this occurred, we have had a great day! She is down to 65% oxygen from the tank, only one IV medication, and is in the process of transitioning from nitric oxide to an oral version to begin weaning her off the nitric and hi flow o2! They are doing some scans and tests to make sure her kidneys are functioning as they should. Her high blood pressure and her surgery put her at a higher risk of having damage so they want to cover their bases even though the blood test shows they are doing fine. Her blood pressure is perfect when asleep, her oxygen levels are holding perfectly as well! She even got a visit from her sister today! God is so good!
